"Netanyahu noted the contribution of the head of state to the strengthening of Ukrainian-Israeli relations and the high level of democratic standards of presidential elections," the Ukrainian president’s website says.

As indicated, Poroshenko thanked the Israeli prime minister "for supporting Ukraine in the international arena."

"The dynamic development of bilateral partnership, including the political dialogue at the highest level, over the past five years was noted," the presidential press service added.

Separately, it was stressed that the expected launch of an agreement on a free trade zone will be an important indicator of the effectiveness of the Ukrainian-Israeli dialogue.

In late January, representatives of Ukraine and Israel signed an agreement on a free trade zone between the countries.
