According to AFP, Pompeo spoke against such taxes during a meeting with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian in Washington.

"Secretary of State Pompeo called on France not to approve a tax on digital services, which will have a negative impact on major American technology companies and French citizens who use them," the State Department agency quoted.

Earlier, the European Commission fined Google € 1.49 billion for violating EU antitrust rules, in particular for abusing market dominance and imposing restrictive conditions in contracts with third-party websites.
