“I think this is quite a logical initiative. Verification of proof of age is required. If there is such a requirement when buying alcohol and cigarettes, then it should be when visiting cinemas. Now, for example, parental consent is required if it is clear that the minor is going to a session, which is too early for him. That is, parents either verbally say that they agree or sign the relevant paper, ”Volynets said.

However, according to her, some manufacturers put age limits above what is necessary in order to "play it safe and not be fined."

“It turns out that some really cool films that can be watched by children fall under the label of 16+ and 18+. It is important to check documents when passing to a film show, because sometimes children can go to the cinema without parental permission. I support this initiative. But it is also necessary, with all the thoroughness of checking films for age, not to escalate the situation, so that manufacturers are not reinsured and thus do not deprive children of any important information, ”she concluded.

Earlier, the Federation Council approved a law that gives, in particular, the right for cashiers and supervisors to ask visitors for a passport if they doubt that the age of the audience corresponds to the category of the film “18+”.
