“It is necessary to urgently activate collective diplomacy in order to prevent the failure of the efforts undertaken by the international community to ensure conditions for the implementation of the only viable two-state solution as a result of direct negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis,” said Nebenzya.

He noted the role of the visiting diplomats mission to the Middle East region in improving the dialogue with the parties to the conflict.

In addition, the Russian permanent representative proposed to think about the new agreed approaches to solving the Middle East crisis.

Nebenzya also reiterated the position of Russia regarding the ownership of the Golan Heights.

“In this context, we want to reaffirm that the Golan, of course, are Syrian territory, which Israel occupied as a result of the 1967 war, and illegally annexed 14 years later,” the diplomat said.

Earlier, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas announced his readiness for negotiations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Moscow.
