In Mali, the new Prime Minister, Boubou Cissé, was appointed, Monday, April 22, announced the presidency by press release. Boubou Cissé, outgoing Minister of Economy and Finance of the government president, succeeds Soumeylou Boubèye Maïga who had to resign last week, while a motion of no confidence was filed against him in the Assembly. Boubou Cissé will have to form a "broad-based government".

" He is young, apolitical, technocratic, Fulani and from the center, " RFI, a presidential adviser, told RFI. For him, no doubt: Boubou Cissé has all the qualities to federate around him. " Part of his family is even a member of the opposition, " he adds.

An economist by training, a former official of the African Development Bank, Minister of the Economy for three years, Boubou Cisse, 47, is a man of records. If his seriousness is unanimous, his appointment does not.

" There is no change. He is a man of the system, a personal friend of Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta's family. He will not be able to stand out from the president, "said Kalilou Ouattara, a member of the opposition, who signed the motion of no confidence.

It grinds its teeth also in the ranks of the parliamentary majority, in the maneuver, when the motion of censure is tabled.

In six years, Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta has appointed only one Prime Minister from his party, the Rally for Mali (RPM). Philosopher, his secretary general, Baber Gano, says he is not disappointed by the appointment of Boubou Cisse but hopes that the RPM will be " massively represented " in the new government announced this week.
