The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced a security guard to life imprisonment for the rape of a mentally ill teenager with three mental disabilities, taking advantage of her condition and the absence of her mother.
Prosecutors in Dubai said the defendant was a security guard on a building in the Riffa area where the mother lives with her daughter. He had a spare key for her apartment and used it to enter the place when the mother was at work.
"I moved to that apartment in February last year and I learned that the defendant has a spare key for the apartment, but I told her that she did not have to worry about it," she said. "I wanted to change the door lock, but I insisted not to do so. So that he can intervene in the case of emergency.
She said that during a short period of her move to that apartment, she noticed the symptoms of depression appear on her daughter and began to behave in a kind of fear, and crying continuously and lost her appetite for food, pointing out that she sat with her more than once and persuaded her to disclose what bothers, revealed to her that she was raped, The mother informed the police that the suspect had been arrested the next day and was referred to the Public Prosecution, which accused him of raping the girl 3 times.
A medical report issued by Rashid Hospital in November revealed that the girl suffers from a mental disability that prevents her from distinguishing the error from the right and that she is not responsible for her actions, as recommended by the report to refer her to a psychologist to treat the effects of the attack.
During his appearance in court in January, the defendant denied the charges, but was convicted by the court and sentenced to life imprisonment and deportation.
