In Benin, following the legislative elections marked by a very strong abstention, the Beninese opposition asked the head of state, Monday, April 29, stopping the electoral process. This is clear from a joint statement of all the parties of this opposition, whose lists were all invalidated by the electoral commission.

At the renaissance headquarters of Benin, renamed "national headquarters of the resistance", they are all there: the two former presidents Boni Yayi and Nicéphore Soglo, his wife Rosine Vieira Soglo, dean of the National Assembly, former Minister Candide Azannaï, the representative of the USL, Sebastien Ajavon, who lives in exile in France, as well as the president of the Communist Party.

It was Nicephore Soglo who read the joint statement. He said he was proud of the people of Benin who " massively abstained " and inflicted a " scathing denial " on Patrice Talon. He asks the head of state to stop the process before tomorrow, Tuesday, at the latest.

" There is still time. We are open to forgiveness. That he renew the dialogue with the whole political class in order to find consensual solutions for democratic and peaceful elections. It's not the sea to drink, "said Nicéphore Soglo.

The opposition thus presents a united face and a speech at once of openness and firmness.
