According to Lavrentiev, at present the work of the Arab League is “stalled” due to the fact that the organization “has a split”, different opinions are expressed, in particular, on the issue of the restoration of Syria’s membership.
"We believe that the presence of Syria in the League of Arab States would help to establish contact (between the countries of the region. - RT ) and return it to the bosom of the Arab family," he concluded.
Earlier, Lavrentiev said that during the meeting in Nur-Sultan, the participants of the ATS negotiations in the Astana format reviewed the situation in Syria and discussed the formation of a constitutional committee.
