The Israeli army announced that it began targeting sites of Hamas in the Gaza Strip in response to the launch of a missile from the strip on the north-east of Tel Aviv, wounding seven Israelis.

Al-Jazeera correspondent said Israeli warplanes bombed a position in the northern Gaza Strip.

The correspondent said earlier that the Israeli army had told the Israeli population near the Gaza Strip that attacks on the Gaza Strip were imminent.

The Israeli occupation army said it had pushed two infantry and armored vehicles to the border of the Gaza Strip, and summoned a number of reserve soldiers to activate anti-missile defense systems.
