“The Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched an investigation into the facts of the attack on the police in the Pankisi Gorge and the destruction of the police property,” the Interior Ministry said.
They noted that as a result of the clashes, 55 people were injured, 38 of whom were policemen, and 17 local residents.
In the Pankisi Gorge, local people oppose the construction of the new Hadori-3 hydroelectric station, demanding that work be stopped.
