The former lawyer of the American president testifies this Wednesday, February 27 before the control committee of the House of Representatives. Sentenced to three years in prison, including for lying before the Congress, Michael Cohen provided the commission with several documents, including a copy of two checks signed by Donald Trump after his election to reimburse the sums paid to two women to buy their silence on their supposed connections with him.

In his opening statement, the former president's lawyer gave a vitriolic portrait of the man he served for more than a decade and expressed regret for having served him. " I regret the day I said yes to Mr. Trump, " Cohen said.

" I regret all the help and support I gave him along the way. I am ashamed of my own failings, and I have publicly accepted responsibility by pleading guilty in the Southern District of New York. I am ashamed of my weakness and misplaced loyalty - things I did for Mr. Trump to protect and promote. I am ashamed to have chosen to participate in the concealment of Mr. Trump's unlawful acts rather than listen to my own conscience. I'm ashamed because I know who Mr. Trump is. He's a racist. He's a crook. It's a cheater . "

Mr Trump is a racist "blacks will not vote for me because they are too stupid" Matt he declared.

Donald Trump's former personal attorney also explained that he had no evidence of a possible collaboration between the Republican candidate's campaign team and Russia in 2016, but that he suspected the existence of collusion. " We wondered if I knew of any direct evidence that Mr. Trump, or his campaign team, had conspired with Russia. I do not have any. I want to be clear. But I have suspicions, "he said.

Collusion with Russia? "All I can tell you is that to win Donald Trump would have worked with anyone. But he did not expect to win. He continued his real estate projects in Moscow because it was "business as usual"
