With less than two months of the European elections, Emmanuel Macron publishes this Tuesday, March 5 a forum in newspapers of all the countries of the Union - including Great Britain. He defends the vision of a Europe that protects against the migratory, climatic or security challenges facing the continent.

The platform, posted online in French on the Elysee website , is entitled "For a European Renaissance" and will be broadcast this Tuesday in the 28 EU member states and as many languages, with prestigious European dailies such as The Guardian (United Kingdom), Die Welt (Germany), El Pais (Spain) and Corriere della Serra (Italy).

It revolves around three themes that echo his own presidential campaign of 2017 (freedom, protection and progress).

A few weeks before Brexit, Emmanuel Macron dramatizes the stakes: " Never has Europe been so much in danger, " pleads the head of state. " If I take the liberty of addressing you directly, it is because there is urgency, " he continues. For him, it is not less Europe that the peoples need but a stronger Europe, a Europe that protects.

Border police, defense treaty, European preference ...

Faced with the migratory challenge, Emmanuel Macron proposes the creation of a common border police and a European asylum office; in the face of US disengagement from NATO, he hopes for the establishment of a defense and security treaty; faced with the ambitions of foreign companies, he wants to assume a European preference in strategic economic sectors; he also wants the Schengen flattening out.

On the table, in all, a dozen proposals. Emmanuel Macron also wants to establish a European minimum wage, a bank to finance the ecological transition or an agency to fight cyberattacks. Lastly, he suggests setting up a Conference for Europe by the end of the year.

No costing of these proposals is advanced. This is not a manifesto but a contribution to the debate, assumes an adviser to the president, for whom " Emmanuel Macron sets the scene for the European campaign ".
