Beverage company Coca-Cola has been using plastics to make up to 18 billion bottles of PET bottles a year.

For the first time ever, Coca - Cola has revealed the amount of plastic it uses for packaging, according to the report.

Coca-Cola used 3 million tonnes (t) per year for plastic packaging in 2017.

The report says Coca-Cola uses plastics that can produce 500,000 bottles of PET per second and 200,000 bottles per second, or 18 billion bottles a year.

Considering that 500 billion bottles of PET bottles are produced globally every year, Coca-Cola uses one bottle of five bottles.

Nestle is using 1.7 million tons per year and Unilever is using 61 million tons of plastic for packaging.

Pepsi, L'Oreal, Wal-Mart, Mark & ​​Spencer, and Burberry said they did not disclose the plastic usage data.
