The mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo has announced a contribution of 50 million euros from the City for the restoration of the cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris, whose roof was ravaged in a fire on Monday night.

Several works have been transferred to the Hôtel de Ville, in the Salle Saint-Jean, where the exhibitions are usually held, said the mayor. The socialist mayor had previously announced his wish to organize "a major international conference of donors," with "patrons from around the world to raise the funds needed for restoration."
