The Souq Waqif Equestrian Festival, which concludes its second edition on Wednesday, is considered one of the most important events in which there is a wide participation. The festival includes several competitions, the most important of which are the Arabian Horse Auction, the Horse Beauty Championship and the Al Bouni Horse Race.
During the race, Al Shaqab, a member of the Qatar Foundation, took the largest part of the championship, with the horses taking first place in most races.

General Supervisor of Souq Waqif Equestrian Festival Abdul Rahman Al-Naama, explained that the current version of the festival has been characterized by the entry of a number of new competitions such as horse auctions and horses of the Arabian Peninsula after it was dedicated only to the Arabian horses.
In an interview with Al Jazeera Net, Al-Neama revealed that the value of the festival's prizes is QR 6 million (US $ 645,000) distributed throughout the festival. He explained that previous horse races were limited to prizes for the first five centers only, Souq Waqif for Equestrian will receive prizes up to eighth place.
The general supervisor of the Souq Waqif Equestrian Festival said that the large turnout witnessed by the festival on a daily basis is evidence of its great success in attracting horses and equestrian enthusiasts from Qataris and residents, adding that the number of Arabian horses participating in the festival is 145, while the number of Arabian horses participating 190 horses.
He pointed out that he was keen not to set a minimum of horses in the auction so that this event an opportunity for lovers of horse acquisition, pointing out that all the 80 horses participating in the auction will be sold without looking at the estimated price of those auctions.
