Minister of Justice Nicole Belloubet at the Elysee Palace, April 20, 2018. Eric FEFERBERG / AFP

In France, the prison administration will be reorganized, announced Nicole Belloubet, Monday, July 30. The Keeper of the Seals received a report from the General Inspectorate of Justice after the spectacular escape of Redoine Faïd on 1 July.

There were " security breaches ". This is the conclusion of the general inspection of justice. Faults at the prison in Réau that allowed the escape of the perpetrator rapist Redoine Faid with the help of a paramilitary commando.

It is therefore necessary to reorganize the penitentiary administration, announces the custody of the seals Nicole Belloubet:

" The Code of Criminal Procedure today makes the assignment of detainees dependent on their criminal status. To put it simply, the defendants - those who have not yet been tried for good - must be in jail and the so-called final convicts are in detention centers regardless of the real danger of each other. So I will propose a modification of the code of criminal procedure to allow the assignment in the most secure prisons of some of the particularly noted prisoners, even if they are still warned by obviously providing a suitable device. "

Other measures announced, the reinforcement of prison information and the classification of establishments according to the profile of prisoners.

Regarding the prison of Réau, the commando had benefited from the absence of anti-helicopter ropes in the courtyard, so they will be installed there.
