During his press conference at the Elysee Palace, Emmanuel Macron announced that he would not put in place the referendum of citizens' initiative (RIC), claim at the heart of the mobilization of "yellow vests".

According to the President of the Republic, the RIC "calls into question representative democracy". Rather than setting it up, Emmanuel Macron prefers to "go further" on the referendum of shared initiative, and proposed to lower to a million signatures the threshold to convene such a referendum.
