Dubai Municipality has stressed the need to clean water tanks in buildings, at least once a year, to prevent the accumulation of bacteria, pointing out that the tap water in the emirate is safe to drink.

Dubai Municipality's Director of Food Safety Department, Eng. Iman Al Bastaki, told Emirates Today that as part of the municipality's drive to maintain consumer safety and health in the emirate, the Department has launched an extensive awareness program on the level of Dubai owners, , And stresses the importance of cleaning the water tanks, once to twice a year, to prevent the proliferation of bacteria, and the accumulation of dirt, making them water is not suitable for drinking.

She added that the Food Safety Department seeks to confirm the safety of tap water for consumption, if the cleaning and sterilization of water tanks, in addition to periodic maintenance of pipes and tank accessories, noting that periodic samples are collected to ensure the water free from any chemical or microbial contaminants.

Al-Bastaki said that under the slogan "Municipality does not sleep," the staff of the call center receives all the reports on drinking water and others around the clock, seven days a week, to make Dubai a happy and sustainable city.

The municipality issued a circular in which it stressed the need to comply with the guidelines for controlling the legeonella bacteria in its water systems and the maintenance of all water systems and networks, including water tanks, air conditioning towers, hot and cold water systems, , Fountains, air fresheners, etc., to be kept clean, treated periodically to control and reduce the risk of contamination with lecithonia bacteria, or bacterial contamination.
