This statement was made by the British Minister during his official visit to Slovenia.

Another example of it being, out of his depth, saying that it was a “Soviet vassal state”. pic.twitter.com/ApWt5pli6x

“Great Britain is very proud of the transformation that has taken place in Slovenia over the past 30 years. A truly remarkable transformation from a Soviet vassal state to modern European democracy, an EU member, a NATO member, ”said Hunt.

According to the Guardian, after the words of Hunt, the former speaker of the National Assembly of Slovenia, Milan Brglez, criticized the minister, noting that he expects from representatives of his country "an immediate reaction to insults of the state and citizens", and not "humble silence".

The publication emphasizes that Slovenia was “the richest state in Yugoslavia”, which had “difficult relations with the USSR”.
