Among other things, the British parliament will vote on a possible second Brexit referendum on Thursday. A request was accepted. This was introduced by the so-called Independent Group (former Labor and Tory MPs). It wants to effect a postponement of the EU withdrawal in order to organize a second referendum. It is to be agreed between a Brexit according to the instructions of the Parliament and a stay in the EU.

On Wednesday evening, the British Parliament had voted against leaving the EU without an agreement. A day later, it will be about whether Britain will apply for a postponement of Brexit scheduled for March 29. However, a Brexit postponement would also require EU leaders to agree next week.

Council President Donald Tusk wants to promote a longer respite in the European Union, he said on Twitter. Before the EU summit at the end of next week, Tusk will "appeal to the EU27 to be open for a long extension if Britain considers it necessary to rethink its Brexit strategy and establish consensus," he wrote.

During my consultations ahead of #EUCO, I want to go to the EU27 to open a long extension if the UK finds it necessary to rethink its #Brexit strategy and build consensus around it.

Shortly after the vote in the House of Commons, British Prime Minister Theresa May announced that she would vote again on the withdrawal agreement she had negotiated with the EU until 20 March. A request should be submitted to parliamentarians on Thursday. If the agreement is adopted this time, May will ask the EU leaders for a short delay for Brexit until June 30, the bill said.

If the agreement is rejected again, May wants to apply to the EU for a postponement of Brexit beyond June 30. This would result in Britain's participation in the European elections in late May, the motion said.

The Brexit deal between May and the EU had already failed in mid-January in the lower house and on Tuesday evening rejected the deputies from the template despite further commitments by the EU by a large majority.
