Former US Vice President Joe Biden's candidacy for president did not go unnoticed by US President Donald Trump, who warned the veteran politician that primaries in his Democratic party would be "loathsome."
"Welcome to the Sleeping Joe race," Trump wrote on Twitter yesterday. Republican Trump often calls his opponents undesirable titles.
"I just hope you have the intelligence, which has long been in doubt, to launch a successful first campaign," Trump said. This campaign will be abhorrent, as you will deal with people who already have some sick and misleading ideas. But if you succeed (in the primaries), I will see you at the front gate! "
Biden announced via Twitter yesterday that he was running for president in the 2020 elections.
Biden said: "The core values of this nation, our status in the world, our strong democracy, everything made America. America is at stake. That's why I announced my candidacy for the presidency of the United States. " And posted a video in which the veteran Democrat announced his candidacy for American voters.
Biden's letter slammed Trump's stance on white supremacy, citing his controversial response to the 2017 "Unification of the Right" and counter-protests in Charlottesville, Virginia, when Trump said there were "very good people on both sides."
"We are in a battle for the spirit of this nation," Biden says, referring to the first term of the presidency as a "hateful period."
