The attack on the Christmas market in Strasbourg, which killed five people on December 11th, seems to have been premeditated. This is what emerges from the first elements of the investigation, revealed by our confreres of the World . Cherif Chekatt, its author, would have actively sought weapons the previous days and entrusted to his mother his " desire to die ".

In the aftermath of the attack on Strasbourg's Christmas market, the authorities remained very cautious. Cherif Chekatt was indeed wanted for another common law case and a search had then taken place at his home, without him being there. We thought then that it was this search that had triggered his action. But the more investigations progress, the more the investigators are convinced that Cherif Chekatt was feeding this long-deadly project.

First of all, there was the claim video found in his apartment during the search. Wearing a keffiyeh, he lends allegiance to the Islamic State group. But there is especially the testimonies collected by the police including those of two friends that Chérif Chekatt solicited from the month of September to obtain weapons. Weapons that he would have procured the morning of the attack, even if the investigators have yet to clarify this point.

Last element: the behaviors of Chérif Chekatt. This time his family put the bug in the ears of the investigators. A family of 12 brothers and sisters who did not appear very surprised by the act of their brother. The terrorist's mother even admitted that the latter had told her in July that she wanted to die , but she did not take it seriously.
