The invitation of Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj to attend the conference of foreign ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), due to be held in the UAE later this week, has aroused public and official resentment in Pakistan.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said he would not attend the conference due to be held in the UAE on March 1 and 2 due to the presence of India's foreign minister.

Qureshi has said in earlier statements to Pakistani media that India is not a member, not even an observer in the organization.

The Indian minister's call also angered the members of the Pakistani Senate, especially as her presence coincides with the strained relations between New Delhi and Islamabad.

Pakistani forces have dropped two Indian fighters during an intercept operation over the skies of Kashmir, a pilot was arrested while the other was taken to hospital.

Pakistani Prime Minister Amran Khan on Wednesday called for dialogue to resolve the current row between the two countries, which has increased significantly in the last few hours after Islamabad announced the shooting down of the planes.

"We have to sit together and engage in dialogue to resolve this dispute with India," Khan said after a meeting of the national leadership body responsible for making decisions on nuclear issues.

Both Russia and China called on the two nuclear neighbors to exercise restraint.
