“On the issue of Belarus’s entry into the Russian Federation, this was not just no one offered to anyone, but, on the contrary, the President of Russia repeatedly, publicly and in private conversations with the President of Belarus, conveyed his position: Russia stands for the bilateral mutually beneficial development of the Union State if our Belarusian friends want it, ”RIA Novosti quotes Babich's words.

He added that if Minsk doesn’t want the development of the Union State, then one can “develop any other integration format of relations”.

Earlier, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko ruled out the possibility of the country's entry into Russia.

Lukashenko also after talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in February, said that Russia and Belarus are ready to go in the union as far as the peoples of the two countries are ready.
