The case of Alexandre Benalla's diplomatic passports continues. The former bodyguard of Emmanuel Macron tells our colleagues of the Journal du dimanche (JDD) that he will return them. Although he admits to having used these diplomatic passports for his personal comfort, he claims however to have never lied about it.

Right in his boots, Alexandre Benalla maintains his line of defense: he has nothing to reproach himself in this new case. He explains to the JDD having left his diplomatic passports at the Elysee Palace after his dismissal last July.

He said, however, that a " member of the presidency " returned his diplomatic passports in October. This allows him to say that he did not lie before the Senate Law Commission, which heard him in September .

In the face of controversy, Alexandre Benalla declares that he will return the passports and also acknowledges that he could have abstained from using them.

Still shadows

Nevertheless, this version of the facts presented by the former cabinet member Emmanuel Macron does not answer all the questions, especially on the nature of its links with the presidency that do not seem to have been broken after his dismissal.

Finally, questions remain about the requests made during the summer by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to retrieve the documents, to which Alexandre Benalla has obviously not responded.

The investigation opened Friday by the parquet of Paris for breach of trust will have to provide answers to these questions.
