Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi considered the Egyptians' approval of amendments to the constitution that would enable him to remain in power until 2030 as a reward for his danger and Egypt's risk.

In the first comment on the results of the last referendum, Al Sisi came out of the context of the word he was reading from a paper at the Labor Day celebration in Alexandria (north of the country) about the Egyptians' astonishment of the world by leaving millions in the referendum.

He said in a speech broadcast on state television and private satellite channels, on Tuesday, addressing the Egyptians and the audience in the hall, "You made my mistakes and risk of Egypt."

Since the amendments to the parliamentary debate in February and its adoption this month, Sisi did not announce his position, amid the talk of Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel-Al that the President did not ask or intervene to submit to the Council.

The National Elections Commission (NEC) announced today that 88.8% of the constitutional amendments would allow Sisi to remain in power until 2030. She pointed out that 23,146,741 voters approved the amendments of the constitution by 88.83% while 2,245,945,680 voters rejected by 11.17%.

Despite Sisi's statement in an interview in 2017 that he did not intend to amend the constitution and would reject a third term, he voted in a polling station east of Cairo and thanked the Egyptians for participating after the announcement of the result.

The opposition forces divided the referendum into two groups, one of which called for the vote no, and another decided to boycott, but they agreed on the unconstitutionality of those amendments.

One of the most significant changes is a six-year extension of the presidential term instead of four, and a transitional provision allowing Sisi to increase his current mandate by two years to 2024 instead of 2022 and re-election for a third term of six years, allowing him to remain in power until 2030, Council of Elders.
