The Israeli occupation army on Monday ended a long siege of the Dome of the Rock in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque after Israeli incursions and provocations provoked intense tension.

Al-Jazeera correspondent Elias Karam said the events began early this morning when an Israeli police officer tried to enter the Dome of the Rock mosque wearing the Jewish prayer cap (kibah).

The Israeli Minister of Agriculture Uri Ariel at the head of a group of Jewish extremists stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque as part of the morning incursions by the Israeli occupation police to the settlers.

The correspondent said that the incursions provoked the Palestinian worshipers and guards of the mosque, and developed the situation to storm the occupation forces in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque and imposed a siege on the mosque Dome of the Rock lasted six hours.

He said that the occupation forces had broken its siege because of the resistance demonstrated by the Palestinians, adding that they found themselves again in defense of the maximum and the soul, where they faced a heavily armed army in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The guards of the Dome of the Rock mosque closed its doors so as not to be desecrated by the Israeli policeman, and later came to the mosque hundreds of Palestinian worshipers.

At the same time, the director of Al-Aqsa Mosque was beaten by the occupation forces, according to Al-Jazeera correspondent.

According to sources in the Islamic Waqf, elements of the Israeli police conducted occasional visits to mosques and facilities in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, but not allowed to enter while they wear this hat.
