Invitation to Putin
During the Trump-Kim summit in Hanoi, both sides had been unable to bridge their differences in North Korea's nuclear disarmament negotiations. On Thursday, Kim and Putin had met for the first time to a summit. The focus was on the controversial North Korean nuclear weapons program and bilateral cooperation.
According to the KCNA report, Kim invited Putin to come to North Korea "at a convenient time." Yuri Ushakov, Putin's foreign policy adviser, said there was no specific schedule for a visit.
The North Korean ruler then left earlier than expected with his armored train from the Russian port of Vladivostok. The reason why he abbreviated the visit program, was not clear at first.
