Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed at the opening of his company's annual developer conference, Facebook's new vision under the slogan "The future is special" in an attempt to reverse the many privacy abuses that have accompanied Facebook for more than a year.

Zuckerberg used the opening of the conference in San Jose, California, to present a summary of his plan to transform Facebook and its associated services into a "living room", where people can share things in more private ways than they can now on Facebook's home network of more than $ 2.2 billion user.

Zuckerberg launched the "Special Future" slogan earlier this year, trying to recover from a series of massive privacy scandals that have rocked the company over the past 15 months. Facebook is still doing very profitable business based on collecting personal information from its users so that it can sell ads targeted to their interests.

But the US company has acknowledged that its inability to protect the privacy of its users could result in a fine of between three and five billion dollars by the US Federal Trade Commission.

During the conference, Facebook unveiled new applications focused on privacy and small groups, and said it would launch later this year.

"As the world grows larger and more interdependent, we need this feeling of familiarity more than ever before," said Zuckerberg. "That's why I think the future is special."
