As a consequence of the investigation mishaps in the case of abuse Lügde wants the North Rhine-Westphalian Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) to search the campsite completely. "This is a large area, we will continue to look at it closely and ask the people there," says Reul in the current issue of SPIEGEL. It is "not excluded that there is a case, a victim who has not yet reported, or that the accused had other hiding places."

Two weeks ago, the home of the main accused Andreas V. was demolished at the campsite in Lügde. CDs and VHS cassettes that the police had missed appeared.

In addition, the demolition company discovered a shed of V., the police had never searched. "That annoyed me, he should have noticed the official," says Reul. It is now about regaining trust: "For this we need an open approach to what is going wrong." There is a need to catch up with the police in terms of error culture. "

The Minister of the Interior, too, admits to own mistakes. Because the police department in Lippe, which was initially responsible, was apparently unable to cope with the investigation, the Ministry handed over the Bielefeld police investigation at the end of January. "With today's knowledge, the case would be handed over faster," says Reul.

At the "Eichwald" campsite in Lügde, several men were said to have abused and filmed at least 40 children over the years. The trial of the accused is expected to start in June.
