"The governments of France, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States are deeply concerned about the fighting near Garyan in Libya and call on all countries to immediately de-escalate tensions that harm the prospects for a political settlement with the mediation of the UN," a joint statement from the press department of the United States.

It is noted that at the moment "military actions and threats of unilateral actions only increase the risk that Libya will slide back into chaos."

It became known earlier that Marshal Khalifa Haftar, commander of the Libyan National Army, ordered the army to launch an offensive against Tripoli, which is currently under the control of the government of national consent.
