The Syrian opposition coalition said that a Syrian displaced woman burned herself in al-Rikban camp on the Syrian side of the border with Jordan.

In a tweet on Twitter, the Syrian coalition said that the woman burned herself because of the suffering of her three children and the severe poverty suffered by her family, where food has not been cooked for 15 days.

For its part, said the United Nations refugee agency that she received a woman who suffered burns class II, where she was taken to a hospital in the Jordanian capital Amman with her baby.

The agency said it had been able to verify that the burns were caused by the gas stove, not suicide, as some media outlets.

Al-Rikban camp is located inside the Syrian territory near the border triangle between Syria, Iraq and Jordan within the 55th area under the control of the international coalition forces stationed at Al-Tanf base on the Syrian-Jordanian border. The camp includes more than 50,000 Syrian refugees, mostly women and children.
