40% of cases of violence against children and women result from marital disputes

According to a specialized analytical study carried out by the «Protection» organization on the cases received from Ajman and other emirates of the state, there are five main reasons for violence against women and children, most notably "marital disputes", 40%, followed by separation of the spouses by 32% 12%, psychological disorder of one of the spouses by 8%, and marriage to another woman by 8%.

The study found that 4% of the victims were men who had been subjected to violence from their wives.

Sheikha Azza bint Rashid Al Nuaimi told Emirates Al-Youm that Hamaya has solved 50 cases of violence against women and children since its establishment and provided the necessary needs for both children and women, either by sheltering them until their problems are solved or resolving the issue. The study showed that psychological violence increased by 56% compared to physical violence, which amounted to 44%, pointing out that this is due to the victim's psychological violence because the effects are not visible, and may coexist with him.

Al-Naimi added that the husband's practice of violence against children and women is due to the role of men in the Arab family in particular, and in the East in general, where they have total control over the family. In contrast, the percentage of counter-violence directed by the wife to the husband was 4%, according to the study.

She pointed out that the Foundation was established in order to keep up with the UAE's intentions to build a safe and non-violent society in all its forms.
