The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, condemned the media campaign against Saudi Arabia against the background of the disappearance of Saudi citizen Jamal Khashoggi in Turkey.

"What is being circulated, in some Arab and international media, is false accusations and false claims that are not based on facts and are intended to offend Saudi Arabia," Zayani said.

"Some media outlets have violated the principles of media honor codes, and have stepped out of professionalism and objectivity and have been spreading lies and falsifying the facts for overt political purposes," Zayani was quoted as saying by the Saudi Press Agency.

He stressed that Saudi Arabia has always maintained its established traditions, taking into account international regulations, conventions and charters.

He stressed that the Kingdom has demonstrated its keenness to reveal the fact that Jamal Khashoggi disappeared as a citizen of its citizens and did not hesitate to request the formation of a joint commission of inquiry with the Turkish side to reveal the circumstances of the case with transparency.
