Demonstrations were banned in several places in Strasbourg on Saturday, when an "international" call to the rally was launched for the 24th Saturday of mobilization of "yellow vests".

The prefect of Bas-Rhin has decided Thursday to ban by order "any event" Saturday in several places in Strasbourg, where a call for a national gathering of "yellow vests" was launched. "Given the risk of disturbances to order and public tranquility, any demonstration is prohibited on Saturday, April 27 on part of the island ellipse (the island of historic downtown Strasbourg, Ed), the forecourt of the station, as well as the surroundings of the European institutions by prefectural decree, "said the prefecture in a statement.

Call for an "international" gathering

For the 24th consecutive Saturday of mobilization of "yellow vests", a call called "international" circulates on social networks proposing to demonstrate Saturday from 13h in Strasbourg, seat of the European Parliament, one month of the European elections. The Facebook page dedicated to this event gathered Thursday evening 3,300 people interested, the organizers hoping to attract protesters German and Belgian as well.

"This demonstration has not been declared to the prefectural authority contrary to the legal requirements in force," said the prefecture of Bas-Rhin. In addition to the ban on demonstrations, the markets planned Saturday in the city center have either been canceled or their schedules changed.
