Russia ranks second in military power among all the powers of the world, according to the rating of Business Insider. At the same time, the USA took the first place, China - the third. The top five countries also include India and France.

“Each country in this ranking is estimated by the variety of weapons available to it, and especially by the amount of human resources. Geographical factors, logistic capabilities of countries, their availability of natural resources and the level of industrial development are also taken into account, ”the publication notes.

Nuclear weapons added points to participants in the ranking, but the number and scale of this type of weapon did not affect the position of the state. In addition, the NATO countries also gained an advantage, since they “theoretically share resources” among themselves.

It is noted that in 2018, the states, in their military strategies, switched from calculating to local conflicts, such as the struggle against the rebels, to global conflicts with other states.

First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense, Alexander Sherin, in a conversation with RT, noted that the Russian army had effectively proved itself in the Syrian operation.

“Our army conducts more effective exercises. And all this is happening not only on the map, but also in the actual use of troops in the training theater of military operations with the use of artillery, aircraft and airborne landing. Thus, the newest types of weapons and means of delivery of personnel are developed. The most important thing is what effect and what result the army gets when it performs certain tasks, ”said Sherin.

At the same time, he noted that "the rating does not indicate combat readiness, but reflects only the amount of funding and the number of armed forces."

“The Russian military budget is being used more efficiently. Of course, there are issues that require improvement and control. The Russian Federation has the technology of high-precision weapons, it has a combat-ready army, ”he concluded.

It is known that they chose 50 points by which they built it, but this rating does not fully reflect the state of affairs in one or another armed forces, ”he said.

According to the newspaper, Russia spends $ 47 billion on armaments, $ 151 billion on China, and $ 647 billion on the United States. According to Litovkin, this indicates a much more efficient spending of funds.

Russia has high rates of rearmament, which are ahead of those of the United States and China, said political analyst and military expert Ivan Konovalov.

“We have the highest dynamics of re-equipment. Neither the Americans nor the Chinese can compare with this. Despite the small budget, we are very quickly rearming and we have the highest dynamics in creating new combat systems and platforms. “In the middle of November, as part of the tasks of the state defense order, about 2,000 main types of weapons and military equipment have already been delivered to the troops.
