Washington is ready to support the people of Nicaragua and Cuba, if they want to achieve a "favorable political situation." This was told by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in an interview with Telemundo.

During the conversation, the journalist brought Pompeo to the issue of Nicaragua and Cuba, adding that we are talking about the steps that the United States took against “non-democratic regimes”.

“Many people in Nicaragua and Cuba say:“ Will you help us after this? ”Asked Pompeo in an interview.

Pompeo expressed the hope that the people of each of these countries "realize that there is no need for authoritarianism imposed by the yoke."

The Secretary of State counts on the fact that citizens "will make their efforts, their goodwill and their humanity in order to achieve a favorable political situation in Venezuela, in Nicaragua, and in Cuba."

Earlier, on the political situation in Nicaragua, US National Security Advisor John Bolton spoke out. According to him, the days of the head of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, are "numbered."

“The Ortega regime sentenced three leaders of farmers to 550 years in prison for participating in protests in 2018, when Ortega police reportedly killed 300 activists. One can argue about the change in the trajectory of American foreign policy, said Konstantin Blokhin, a leading researcher at the Center for Security Studies, RAS, in an interview with RT.

“The United States will play a more active role in Latin America and, most likely, will gradually move away from the“ game ”in Eurasia, which is becoming increasingly difficult to control,” the expert believes. According to him, the United States is "returning" to the western hemisphere.

Political analyst Alexander Asafov, in an interview with RT, noted that efforts to maintain US foreign policy in Latin America have intensified.

“This is largely due to the fact that, despite the opinion that Latin America is under the control of the United States, it has come to the realization that it is leaving the influence,” the expert noted.

According to the expert, reports of the death of civilians and the statement of Pompeo create confidence in the preparation of military intervention.
