Due to the spread of the corona virus, Austria has tightened security measures at Vienna Airport. From Thursday morning, the temperature at the airport in the Austrian capital will be measured for passengers arriving by direct flight from Beijing, announced Lower Austria's State Health Councilor Ulrike Königsberger-Ludwig.

Infection and death rates continue to rise
The number of fatalities caused by the corona virus has meanwhile risen again significantly in China. According to the Chinese authorities on Thursday, a further 73 people have died as a result of the infection the previous day. The official total number of deaths in mainland China grew to 563. The number of infected rose to 28,018.
Two deaths have been reported outside of mainland China - one in the Hong Kong SAR and one in the Philippines. According to experts, the mortality rate for infections with the novel virus has so far been two percent. It is well below the ten percent of the Sars epidemic in 2002 and 2003.
Chinese authorities have approved the American anti-virus drug Remdesivir for clinical trials with the new coronavirus to treat sick people. The first group of patients should take the drug on Thursday. It has shown good results with other corona viruses such as Sars or Mers and at least at the cell level with the new virus called 2019-nCov. 761 patients take the tests.
More infected on cruise ships
Ten more cases of infected people were confirmed on the cruise ship "Diamond Princess" on Thursday. The previous day, ten infected people had been brought to hospitals by the ship. According to evidence of infection, a second ship with more than 1,800 passengers and 1,800 crew members is being held in Hong Kong. The virus had been found in three people who had meanwhile traveled on the ship of the Asian company Dream Cruises.
