Damian Penaud and Paul Gabrillagues, authors of the two French essays, tried to sound the revolt in vain. The French XV, reduced to fourteen after the exclusion of second row Paul Willemse (32nd), was largely dominated by Ireland 38-17 on Friday at the opening of the Six Nations Tournament in Marseille.
