Nishioka scored a total of 60.930 points in the first round of the competition. He is the first Japanese man to win a gold medal at the world championships.
The next round of competition will be held in November. The winner of the gold medal will be announced after the second round on December 1. The other winners will be named on December 2. The final round will take place on December 3. The winners will then be announced on December 4. The event will be hosted by the Japan Olympic Committee.
