A hair-cutting ceremony was held for former sumo wrestler Kasugayama Oyakata, and many fans and officials regretted his retirement. He has been active in makuuchi for nearly 24 years after making his new entry in the spring of Heisei 10.
He gained popularity for his outstanding singing ability, and showed off his beautiful voice with singer Joji Yamamoto. He said, "It was my dream to have a haircutting ceremony at the Kokugikan, so I really have no regrets. I want to do my best in the next stage with integrity and masculinity."
