A hair-cutting ceremony was held for former sumo wrestler Kasugayama Oyakata, and many fans and officials regretted his retirement.
Originally from Katano City, Osaka, the former Sekiwaki is a four-way sumo wrestler who makes use of his physique of over 1 meter and 90 centimeters tall and has been active in makuuchi for nearly 24 years after making his new entry in the spring of Heisei 10.
After retiring, he worked as a Kasugayama master at the Isenomi room, and on the 2th, two years after his retirement, he participated in a haircutting ceremony held at the Kokugikan in Ryogoku, Tokyo.
Then, when about 4 people, including former yokozuna Tsururyu Oyakata and yokozuna Terunofuji, who had just completed their haircutting ceremony on the 3rd, put scissors into the large bowl, Kasugayama Oyakata could not hold back tears.
Finally, his master, Isenomi Oyakata, cut off the thick busa, ending his 250-year career as a sumo wrestler.
After this, like Kasugayama Oyakata, who gained popularity for his outstanding singing ability, he showed off his beautiful voice with singer Joji Yamamoto, and the venue was very excited.
Kasugayama Oyakata said, "It was my dream to have a haircutting ceremony at the Kokugikan, so I really have no regrets. I want to do my best in the next stage with integrity and masculinity."
