Tonight, the U.S. is easing its strict immigration rules.

In recent weeks, tens of thousands of migrants have gathered along the border with Mexico. Many are waiting for the magic date of May 11, when the temporary pandemic rules of the United States, known as "Title 42," will cease to apply. Since they were introduced in 2020, three million people have been turned away to Mexico.Starting tonight, all migrants have the right to have their reasons for asylum re-examined. But anyone who is denied asylum can be banned from the US for five years starting tonight.
