World's first US private lunar lander NASA releases images taken from above the moon. Regarding the American lander, which became the first private company in the world to successfully land on the moon this month, NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) announced that the lander was lying on its side.

So far, five countries have successfully landed on the Moon: the former Soviet Union, the United States, China, India, and Japan. Plans are underway for a Japanese private company to attempt a moon landing.
