Liaquat Ali Chatha, the Pakistani election commissioner for the city of Rawalpindi, admitted to falsifying the results of the general elections held on the 8th of this month under his supervision. Chatha announced his resignation from his position and demanded that he be punished.

Meanwhile, protest demonstrations swept through many Pakistani cities against what they called the manipulation that occurred in the elections. In front of the media, Chatha said that he “stabbed the country in the back,” referring to election fraud, so he cannot sleep.
