Fishing gear accounts for the majority of the plastic waste that washes up on beaches in Japan. Research is being carried out in Ainan Town in Ehime Prefecture to develop plastics to make environmentally friendly fishing gear.
The aim is to create a revolutionary plastic that is environmentally friendly. Until now, plastics that decompose in the sea have been developed, but they were not durable enough to be used in the fishing. Verification of how to adjust and process the ingredients to promote decomposition is underway.
