Tomorrow, April 8, millions across the North American continent will await one of the rarest cases of a total solar eclipse. Total solar eclipse will be visible along a narrow path extending from the Mexican state of Mazatlan to the Canadian island of Newfoundland.

The eclipse will last for 4 minutes and 28 seconds, which is a rather long period compared to most total solar eclipses. In modern history, the western Philippines witnessed the longest eclipse in 1955, which lasted 7 minutes and 8 seconds.
