Emmanuel Macron asked the government to make a statement before Parliament "relating to the bilateral security agreement concluded with Ukraine"; on February 16, followed by a debate and a vote. This security agreement "establishes our long-term support for Ukraine to defeat Russia's war of aggression", recalls the Élysée which does not specify the date of this parliamentary debate.

This announcement comes a few hours after a controversy sparked by Emmanuel Macron's statements not ruling out the possibility of Western troops being sent to Ukraine.
