UNRWA Executive Director senses crisis over suspension of funding, calls for support at UN General Assembly. Secretary-General Lazzarini expressed a strong sense of crisis that some countries had suspended funding.

Some countries, including the United States and Japan, have suspended funding to UNRWA after some of its staff were suspected of being involved in the Hamas attack on Israel last October. He explained that the suspension of contributions amounts to a total of 450 million dollars in 16 countries, or more than 67 billion yen in Japanese yen.
