The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, an American city in the eastern state of Maryland, collapsed early on Tuesday. Lanes are closed in both directions due to an "incident" on the bridge and traffic has been redirected.

Baltimore police told NBC it was possible people fell into the river. The highway bridge “ collapsed after being hit by a ship, ” this organization then clarified, instructing motorists to avoid this axis which crosses the Patapsco River. “ I can confirm that at 1:35 a.m. Baltimore City Police were notified of a partial collapse, and that workers may be in the water,” a spokeswoman for police, Niki Fennoy.
